About school

There are approximately 430 learners enrolled on courses. Classes are taught in small groups, usually between 8 and 10 people.

How old are our learners?
During 2011/12 we have places for 156 learners aged 16 to 18 with the remainder of places offered (approximately 250) to people aged 19+. Some classes have people aged between 16 and 85!

Who goes to the College?
All sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds which is what makes the College such a good place to learn. The College is not just for disabled people although 38% of our learners are disabled and we offer support for those who need it.

When inspected by Ofsted in November 2010 Greenbank College was awarded Grade 1 ‘Outstanding’ for Equality and Diversity.

Who runs it?
The College is run by Greenbank, a registered charity whose mission statement is:

“To enhance the opportunities and status of people with disabilities through education, training, employment, transport, sport and recreation”

What’s on offer?
Introductory courses such as basic computers, work related courses, fun courses eg wine appreciation, a link to Higher Education via Foundation Degree Inclusive Sport Development course, courses to improve English and Maths skills and more.
